Budapest-Balaton M7 Motorway Renovation: Summer Works and Diversions This summer, as in the previous year, efforts are being made to minimize traffic disruption on the section of the M7 motorway between Budapest and Balaton. The works are planned only on three-lane sections, and they will take place on days that are less busy from a traffic perspective.

Renovations occur in June and July, between Tuesday and Friday, on the sections between Székesfehérvár and the M0 road. On the side heading towards Budapest, at least two lanes will remain open for continuous traffic during the works. Renovations will also be carried out at rest areas and branch junctions.

In the autumn period, it will be unavoidable for the renovations to continue on the side heading towards Balaton. On the section of the M7 motorway between Érd and Székesfehérvár, the average age of the asphalt pavement is more than 15 years. The state of this part of the track has deteriorated rapidly in several places recently. During the summer period, at least 8 kilometers of road sections will have their damaged pavement replaced along the 54 kilometers stretch. The summer renovation of the M7 is part of

Hungary's largest highway renovation project. Between 2023 and 2025, out of the 1237 kilometers of roads transferred for operation and renovation by MKIF Zrt., 538 kilometers will be renewed. The renovation works on the M7 motorway are crucial for ensuring safe and smooth transportation during the summer tourist season while also serving long-term infrastructural development goals.
