The Romanian government has approved the technical and economic indicators for the motorway being constructed between Timișoara and Moravița, making a significant step forward in the project's advancement. This nearly 73-kilometer-long motorway will connect Moravița near the Romanian-Serbian border with Timișoara, offering significant transportation and economic benefits for both countries.
The project has an outstanding budget, valued at 2.93 billion euros in Romania, and the investment must be completed within 48 months following the signing of the contract. This means that a specific and tight deadline has been set by the Romanian and Serbian authorities for the completion of the construction. The new motorway will be an integral part of the transportation between Belgrade and Timișoara, which began to take shape based on an agreement signed in June 2022 between the Serbian and Romanian parties. On the Serbian side, a 65-kilometer section will be constructed. The biggest advantage the motorway will bring is a significant reduction in travel time.
Upon the completion of the entire investment, it will take just one hour to travel from Belgrade to Timișoara, significantly improving the transportation infrastructure and opportunities in the region. In Serbia, the motorway will run along the route of Belgrade, Pančevo, Vršac, and Vatin, enabling fast and efficient connectivity between the two countries.
