The renovation and maintenance of highways play a crucial role year after year in ensuring traffic safety and comfort. Regarding this year's work, László Szimicsku, the communications director of Magyar Concessions Infrastructure Developer Ltd., provided information to Világgazdaság. By August 1, during the completed works, more than 1.8 million square meters of asphalt pavement were replaced at 98 locations nationwide, including the heavily trafficked M1, M15, M3, M30, M35, M4, and M7 highway sections.
The total area planned for renovation by the end of the year amounts to 3.9 million square meters, with particular attention given to the M7 and M3 highways.
For August, the organization has implemented special measures to minimize traffic disruptions during the tourist season. No pre-planned paving work will be carried out on the M1 highway or the section of the M7 highway between Balatonvilágos and Budapest to avoid obstructing traffic.
On other sections of the highway, such as the one between 166 and 169 km on the M1, restrictions are still expected, but the dual carriageway will remain freely accessible. These measures are necessary to manage the increased traffic during the tourist season, which can rise from an average of 30,000 vehicles on a typical Friday in April to as much as 50,000. During such periods, rescheduling of maintenance work is necessary to ensure smooth traffic flow. Overall, motorists can expect some disruptions until the end of November or early December, but depending on the weather, the work may continue throughout December.
